Building Information Modelling (BIM) is the holistic process of creating and managing information for a built asset. So, Scan to BIM is the process of 3D laser scanning a physical space to create a detailed digital model. This can then be used for planning, monitoring or managing the built environment.
BIM modelling service provides a wide range of models for various stages of a project. The scan to BIM service is the most accurate and effective way to develop BIM models from existing buildings. BIM is the next step in the evolution of the construction drawing process. The ability to show detailed information from floor plans, sections and 3D renders in a collaborative form is the future for the building industry.
The data from laser scans almost always take the form of a point cloud. A point cloud is a set of data points in space, the points may represent a 3D shaped or object. In addition, 3D laser scanners take millions of measurements and collect information about the built environment. This is then all processed into a virtual representation.
BIM is a 3D modelling software that can help enhance the work for architecture and construction projects. It does this by:
Revit was built for BIM to help designers, design, visualise, and simulate the data within a BIM model. Revit creates objects which consists of data that designers can see in different views. Such as, 2d drawings and 3d models.
